Eclipse Theatre Company presented a handsome production thanks to the scenery and lighting. Scenic designer Steph Charaska created a minimal, but functional set to serve multiple locations. Lighting Designer Chris Corwin did a great job blending realism with the more fantastical moments. "Resurrection Blues" is a strong production held back by an unfocused script. I commend Eclipse Theatre Company for shining light on Miller's penultimate script, in spite of its flaws. This production is worth a look, especially for Arthur Miller connoisseurs.

This Past week has been spent at the Greenhouse space in Lincoln Park loading in Eclipse Theatre's production of Resurrection Blues. Our production lands us on the top of a mountain and with the need for sittables that work within this realm I designed our furniture to resemble rock formations. Take a look at some of the process shots here.
What we did was draw and cut out our top shape and bottom shape and framed those out so we could inset foam. We used poly extruded foam (pink foam that you find at home depot). We glued the foam to maso that was attached to the framing and then we used great stuff to secure foam to foam. Then with a saw, sure form, and snap off knife in hand I sculpted the formations. After they are sufficiently carved we covered them with muslin and glue to protect the foam from wear and tear through the run of the production. Next we will add texture and a final paint treatment. Check back for production shots soon!

Working with the JCC in Skokie, IL to create the wondrous world of Willy Wonka. We are in initial conversations about how the set will move. I really want to create units where we can use the different sides to create a new combination for each room in the factory. To the left is the color research I will be drawing from. I think this is going to be a great little show. I'm having a meeting with the director today. I hope she is as excited as I am!
